Progress, Not Perfection

I’ve been out of pocket for a few weeks longer than I had planned. It’s been a busy fall. New job. Agility trials. FastCat events. Hockey is back!

Finally, the fall weather seems to have arrived! It’s cool and I can wear my knit sweaters. I live for these days.

On the knitting front, I’ve been working on the Weekender still. I got stranded on sleeve island for a while but am working on it slowly. I’m in the middle of Laurelie by Lisa Hannes, worked in Koi Fish Fibers fingering in the colorways of Tea Stains and Caramel Popcorn. I admit, my knitting mojo has been waning these last few weeks.

One tired dude

Dog sports are the main thing right now. Jack earned his MXJ (Master-Excellent Jumpers title) unbeknownst to us. Apparently, I miscalculated the number of Q’s we’d earned and actually got the title back on Sept 11. Oops. We just finished up a four-day trial sponsored by my home club. We did okay on day 1, day 2 was a total bust but ended up with double Qs on days 3 and 4. These were long days – 7am-5pm. I made the executive decision to not enter more than 3 runs a day unless it’s absolutely necessary for us to reach a goal. I was aching all over and Jack was, for the first time ever, tired. So tired, that we ran our slowest standard run ever on Sunday. We’re taking the next 6 weeks off and won’t trial again until Dec 3. We both need a break.

Speck loves to “chase the bunny”

Speckman started running FastCAT last month and earned his BCAT title last week. This little guy runs like the wind. Chasing that lure is the most fun he’s ever had I think.

Hard to believe we’re coming into the holiday season already. I’m almost as happy to see 2021 at an end as I was to finish 2020. Onward and upward.

Cheers!

In the Kitchen: Not a lot going on. It’s soup and baking season though!
New to me: Fleece-lined leggings by Naviskin. My favorite brand of active wear! These are perfect for fall days outside with the dogs and have a zip pocket for my phone. Comfy and warm. I wear these everywhere right now,.
