I’ve been taking an online course in Mental Mastery for Dog Handlers. It’s focus is on training me to be calm and collected in the ring, to improve my self-confidence during trials, to avoid negative thoughts (and people) so to improve my performance and improve as a team. Last weekend was not successful by conventional standards, we only had 2 Q’s in a 3 day trial, but I felt like it was a huge success. Jack completed all the obstacles including the dog walk and teeter. He only popped off once. He had some beautiful weaves with only one missed. He did all the hard stuff: backsides, serps, threadles without missing a beat. And to beat all, we earned our first qualifying score in Premier Standard and took 2nd place! We had a good time and have been practicing our entry ‘routine’ – sit, ready?, there are no bad runs so let’s have fun!

My knitting mojo has slowed down a bit. I’m still working on the Summer Trellis sweater but just finished the (never-ending) body so I should be finishing it up pretty soon. I received some beautiful Merino-Silk-Yak from my friend, Christina, at Koi Fish Fiber. The colorway is Painted Butte (which I promptly renamed Purple Butt). I have over 1000 yds so this will be my next sweater. The blend is amazing. It’s shimmery (silk), warm and soft (yak). I’m on the hunt for my next t-shirt pattern. I need to answer the age-old question, do I reknit something I love or try something new.
