As I type, today is the summer equinox. Of course, in the south, our summer weather started 2 months ago but officially summer starts today. I’m having trouble wrapping my head around a few things: 1) 6 months have already passed in 2021, 2) July is NEXT WEEK and 3) daylight is all downhill from here. I’m determined to make this summer memorable for good things!

Jack and I attended a NADAC trial this weekend hosted by RuFF Agility of KY. This was their first trial since the pandemic and since having all of their equipment stolen in 2020 (yes, just another reason to wipe 2020 out of our memories). It was held at the WKU Agriculture and Livestock Arena and judged by Nick Sparks. It was a fun time, the courses were flow-y and challenging. Jack earned some new titles and we enjoyed catching up with old friends and making new ones. We even made a side trip to Chaney’s Dairy Barn for some toasted coconut and bourbon crunch ice cream.

I am still knitting on the same things I have been for the last month: the LoveNote sweater, a test knit for the Breanna Shawl, a blanket for my daughter and (most recently) a little mug rug to practice my rug hooking. I feel like I’m running in place at this point and really (really!) want to finish something. My test knit was scheduled to be finished this weekend but the color work has been slow going and life plus travel has made it hard to make any real headway. It’s not a difficult knit and the result is turning out lovely but I am just having a hard time carving out the time I need to make serious progress.
I hope you all have a great week and do something fun to celebrate summer!
