I’ll admit it. I’ve hit the proverbial wall. I am no longer having fun. I’m going to sit over here and have a pity party for a quick minute. My yarn shopping hasn’t made me feel better. I find myself wanting to cast on projects but then losing interest once I’ve started. I’m miscalculating patterns and running short on yarn. My focus is just not sharp. Work is a grind, but it shouldn’t be, I’m doing something I like (and feel like I’m pretty good at) but my mind wanders throughout the day. Not long ago I was baking regularly and I had plans to try new cakes and breads but now I’m uninterested in that too. I have registered for 2 upcoming agility trials but I’m not really excited about them – I’m feeling disconnected from that community too – like my friends have moved on without me. I realized this morning that I have been under the pandemic cloud for 52 weeks – a solid year of inertia. I’m annoyed by every little thing and my entire existence seems to revolve around crawling into bed. Even the beautiful spring weather hasn’t perked me up. Okay, I know it’s time to pull up my big girl panties and call off the pity party. Mental health is real, y’all.
I did receive an email this week letting me know that Modern Daily Knitting retreat at Shakerag is a go for June. The retreat in 2020 was canceled (duh) but I was able to hold my spot (which is paid for) for 2021. This is definitely something I can look forward to attending. I’m also teaching Puppy Kindergarten again this month. Life can be pretty special when there are puppies to play with. Jack and I are also starting to train again. I am hoping that these social interactions will help me shake the funk I feel. Being vaccinated is great but until everyone I care about is vaccinated, we still have a long road ahead.
